At Med Specialties Compounding Pharmacy In Yorba Linda CA, We Know How Best To Ease Your Pain.

Pain

Nail fungus — Elderly Senior Adult Patient in Yorba Linda, CA
At Med Specialties Compounding Pharmacy, we understand how frustrating it is to have chronic pain and feel like you have no other options than to take oral pain medications that may lead to serious systemic side effects. We are here to create alternative solutions to manage your pain, which may include directly applying medications to the site of pain, rather than taking a systemic pill that will affect your entire body. We believe in pain beyond the pill.

No Pain is the Same

Everyone feels pain uniquely. We are here to help relieve your discomfort, whether it is associated with disease, injury, surgery, or idiopathic. The complexity of pain necessitates the need for a variety of pain medications that provide relief in different ways. Unfortunately, the current medications on the market are not able to fulfill everyone’s needs. Here at Med Specialties, we will work directly with you and your physician to develop a formulary that works for your pain.

Some Unique Treatment Formulations We Use

Here at Med Specialties, we advocate the use of formulations that do not require gastrointestinal absorption and bypass first-pass hepatic metabolism. As a result, the side effects that would typically be experienced with oral administration of traditional pain medications can be greatly mitigated.
  • Topical & Transdermal Creams/ Gels
    • Although both topical and transdermal formulations are both applied directly to the skin, only transdermal formulations will penetrate into deeper tissues. Both formulations offer numerous potential benefits to patients, dependent on each patient case. These formulations provide for a high concentration dose directly to the site of pain.
  • Nasal Sprays
    • The nose has nerve fibers within its cavity that directly connect to the brain stem, therefore allowing medications to successfully bypass the blood brain barrier.
  • Troches
    • Although troches are taken orally, they have a different absorption mechanism that tablets or capsules. They are dissolved between the cheek and gum, where there is a thin lining rich in blood supply. As a result, the medication is absorbed gradually into the blood stream.
